As college preparation begins, consider setting up an email address strictly for college items.  Be mindful of the email address you choose.  Admissions counselors will not view your application seriously if you use a silly email address.

Each college sets its own deadline requirement to complete the FAFSA.  Visit the college web site for more information.  Tax information is required to complete the form so file your taxes early.  If you cannot do so, you may complete the form based on your previous year's return and then update the information online once your return has been completed.

Commonwealth Diploma

This special diploma will result in receiving special recognition at graduation.  Because of the Advanced Placement (AP) classes required for the diploma, a student may earn the chance to enter a field of study in college on an advanced level.

Requirements:
  • Successful completion of at least 22 approved units of credit, including all the minimum unit requirements for high school graduation required by the state and the board of education.
  • Successful completion of all minimum requirements of the Precollege Cirriculum.
  • Successful completion (receiving a grade of C or its equivalent) of at least four (4) Advanced Placement courses:
    • English (1 course)
    • Mathematics or Science (1 course)
    • Foreign Language (1 course)
    • Elective (selected from above or the following:  U. S. History, Art History, or Studio Art)
  • Completion of AP examinations in three of the four subject areas specified above, without regard to score.
The Commonwealth Diploma is awarded to each student completing the above program requirements.  Students completing those courses still must take the AP exams.  Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship A Reward for Good Grades and ACT/SAT Scores.
